The Future is Now written on desert road

Are you considering doing an Erasmus+ or Turing programme abroad? If the answer to that question is “yes”, then great news!

If the answer is “Maybe” or “I don’t know yet”, then let us help you address any concerns and turn your plans for going on an Erasmus+ adventure abroad into reality. Nothing compares to the invaluable experience that an Erasmus+ or Turing project can bring to someone who is keen to develop and improve their personal and professional skills. That is why we continue to deliver a service of providing a once in a lifetime opportunity for groups to work and learn during an Erasmus+ or Turing internship abroad.

In this piece, we will show you why Erasmus+ and Turing projects are so important and banish any concerns that you (as a future Erasmus+ or Turing participant) may have but aren’t worth stressing over!

The Importance of Erasmus+ and Turing Programmes

Erasmus+ or Turing doesn’t only contribute to the personal, professional and academic development of young learners; it also positively influences their foreign language skills as well as employability in the international marketplace. Our long established experience in the field of placements abroad has shown that Erasmus+ mobilities significantly increase individuals’ self-confidence, social skills and ultimately, independence.

Peter was one of our latest Erasmus+ group participants in Berlin and highlighted the fact that Erasmus+ is all about leaving your personal comfort zone and growing. Another member of the group, Marie, told us that she gained important first-hand insight especially for her professional field of interest which will have a strong influence on her future professional decisions. Last but not least, both participants developed a network of international contacts which will help for their future professional careers.

Why Your Concerns Going Abroad on an Erasmus+ or Turing Mobility Shouldn’t Stop You

You might be scared of going abroad and ask yourself if you have the capability of doing it - or if you are the right type person for this sort of project, as it is something completely new to you? Maybe you haven’t done anything similar before on your own?

You know what, everything that happens in our lives is at some point new to us and that is a good thing as we experience different things and learn something new for our future lives.

We’ll try to explain it differently so that you look at it from another perspective. As a baby, you felt uncomfortable when confronted by almost anything new, such as unknown faces of relatives, perhaps a cousin or loud noises like exploding balloons! Some years later, as a young child you loved to play with balloons and your cousin in the back yard! Or you might have had a strange feeling before taking off on your first flight in a plane, although flying is reportedly the safest way of travelling. After that first flight you (hopefully 😉) overcame that fear and you were glad you experienced it!

In short, anyone who wants to grow personally and experience new things must take some kind of risk, be brave and overcome their fears. Or to put it in the words of Nelson Mandela, "I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it."

Let’s use the advantage of a once in a lifetime opportunity, which is funded by either the European Union (Erasmus+) or the government of the UK (Turing Scheme), and gain invaluable experience by participating in an Erasmus+ or Turing programme. Follow the words of the famous book writer Paulo Coelho, “BE BRAVE. TAKE RISKS. NOTHING CAN SUBSTITUTE EXPERIENCE”
