Why Cultural and History Trips Should Be Part of Every School Year
There are some things students can learn from a textbook and then there are things they need to experience. A history lesson can explain the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, the development of democracy in Ancient Greece or the extraordinary cultural changes of the Renaissance. Students can of course read about famous buildings, study paintings, watch documentaries and explore photographs of places they may one day visit. All of this has an important place in education but there is something fundamentally different about actually standing in the place where history happened.
