What Type of Tasks can Erasmus+ or Turing Interns Complete?

Written by Amina Adjam | April 25, 2021

Professional experiences are crucial for your career path no doubt, but are internships useful or are they only for students that want to earn more pocket money while on vacation? Every person is different and has an individual expectation about his/her workplace. Some are sure that they will only complete the easy tasks, the “interns’ tasks” and others are convinced that they will receive more trust from their employer and handle complex assignments. In this article, let us tell you about the tasks and responsibilities Erasmus+ interns normally have and how those short periods of time have a massive positive impact on your skills.

First of all, we would like to indicate that every company and employer is different and there is no rule of thumb. In addition to that, it depends on the area of the Erasmus+ or Turing internship. You will find managers who take the view that interns are only there to assist the employees with the easier tasks, like the small stuff in the office, for example. Whereas there are supervisors who want to give the Erasmus+ or Turing Scheme participant a chance to learn new tasks, improve their skills as well as knowledge and be an important part of the company.

May we give you some helpful advice? Every task, either an easy or difficult one, is important and will give you more insight into a certain business field that you want to gain professional experience from. For this reason, see your tasks as a chance to learn from your Erasmus+ or Turing Scheme internship as much as possible so when you get back home after your mobility, you have plenty of professional experience that will help you along your career path.

In the following piece, we want to give you a short overview of various tasks Erasmus+ (and Turing Scheme participants in the future) you might complete during an internship abroad.

Office Jobs

Your responsibilities could be writing an offer, preparing an email for your manager, it may also be attending a meeting or having direct contact with clients and business partners (usually after a certain period of time of training). Other assignments during your Erasmus+ or Turing Scheme internship could be arranging files, filing documents, scanning contracts, or doing research on specific topics.

Mechanics Field

An Erasmus+ or Turing Scheme intern will get an insight into the world of mechanics and learn how to repair cars, for example. Furthermore, you will learn about the different tools and when which one must be used. Additional tasks could be maintenance, assembling or technical drawing.

Medical Area

No doubt this field has so many different jobs and the responsibilities are numerous, but some of Erasmus+ or Turing Scheme interns’ tasks could be laboratory tests, quality checks or treating wounds. Have you already been on a medical internship and want to share your duties with us? Leave a comment below and let us know.

As mentioned before, every company, department and manager is different and everyone has a certain way of thinking what tasks an Erasmus+ or Turing intern should complete. Use this opportunity and learn as much as possible, ask a lot of questions, watch how your supervisor does certain assignments and take notes. Make your mobility worth it and appreciate the easier tasks, because even those small duties will allow you to learn something. If you think that you could and want to have more responsibility and do a more demanding assignment, ask your supervisor and we are sure that they will be glad to have an intern who is hungry for knowledge.
