An Erasmus+ semester for university or college students brings a multitude of amazing opportunities! Not only does it encourage independence and inspire confidence, but it adds an excellent additional qualification to any CV, forges useful connections for the future and improves employability later on. It also brings new friendships across Europe. If you’re considering spending a semester abroad this winter 2024/2025, where are the greatest destinations of all and the most popular? We can tell you about three of our most popular winter semester destinations – we’re sure you’ll be tempted by all, but which one will you choose?

  • Malta, a Gem in the Mediterranean

Enhance your cultural experiences and discover breathtaking landscapes at the same time. Malta is nestled in the heart of the Mediterranean and is a well-priced destination for students looking for courses in technology, marketing, childcare, digital and more. With a mild winter, if you want to escape the cold and enjoy endless beaches throughout the winter months, what could be better than Malta? There’s so much to see and do, including ancient temples and medieval cities, plus it’s a very safe place to be, with extremely low crime. Furthermore, if you go on an Erasmus+ trip with TravelEdventures, we’ve already got an exciting winter semester lined up for our students (click here for our landing page) – and with our new hostel about to open, you’ll have the added bonus of low-cost accommodation in a superb, safe and comfortable setting.

  • Valencia, a Modern, Thriving City on the Spanish Coast

Spain continues to be one of the top destinations for Erasmus+ students and there’s so many reasons why! It’s generally warm, even during the winter (so plenty of students choose it for their winter semester) and Spain has the friendliest of people along with delicious food. It’s also easy to get to, from nearly anywhere in Europe. Don’t miss out on the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences and spend time at the historic Silk Exchange. During the night-time hours, you’ll be delighted by the student nightlife, with clubs and bars, plenty of places to enjoy Paella and cafés spilling out onto the streets. Do take time to enjoy the famous Fallas festival if you’re still in the city at the end of February – Valencia will be hard to leave!

  • Grenoble, an Alpine Adventure in France!

If it’s a winter-wonderland you’re looking for then head to Grenoble, in the French Alps and revel in the majesty of snowy mountain peaks! For those students who like winter sports, hot chocolate and skiing, Grenoble is perfect! Visiting the old town in Grenoble gives you a glimpse into French history and there’s plenty of charm in the beautiful architecture. Furthermore, the University of Grenoble has remarkable opportunities for foreign students, making it the perfect choice for a fabulous winter semester destination.

Finally

You may well be spoilt for choice as all three destinations above offer many opportunities.
