Follow the Sun At the Erasmus+ Dedicated Hostel in Malta

You’re probably wondering where the title of this blog comes from – and why we’ve given it the title “Follow the Sun”? Well, surprise surprise! It’s the name of our hostel in Malta, created especially for Erasmus travellers such as students, learners and teachers going on Erasmus+ mobility programmes organised by TravelEdventures. This hostel represents much more than a place to stay, rather it is a carefully designed space for Erasmus generations.

Opened last year in 2025, it has already become home to more than 2,000 students and teachers from different European countries. We can confidently say that by following the sun, we have brought the best possible energy to Erasmus+ and delivered top-notch experiences as a result, every single day.

Who The Hostel Is For

You may be wondering who the hostel is for, the answer is an easy one. It’s for young people who want to learn, build new friendships and participate in Erasmus+ to gain international experiences. It’s also for teachers accompanying their students on their European journey. Having said that, our hostel isn’t just accommodation, it’s the starting point of European stories that truly change lives.

Over the past year, we’ve welcomed students and teachers from Italy, Serbia, Spain and other European countries. Their experiences prove that mobility isn’t only about vocational training, it is about powerful personal growth.

Hospitality Internships

One group of teachers from Italy shared their impressions after their tourism and culinary students completed their mobility. The students carried out their internships in hotels and restaurants in Malta, working in real professional environments alongside international teams.

They learned how to prepare Mediterranean dishes, organise work in professional kitchens, communicate with guests and apply service standards different from those in their home country. They developed speed, precision, teamwork and professional discipline.

“Our students returned more confident, responsible and proud of themselves. They were happy and fulfilled – and so were we as their mentors,” the Italian teachers told us after the placement.

Digital Marketing Internships

Equally inspiring was the experience of students from Spain, who completed their internships in digital marketing. They worked on creating social media content, analysing markets, developing promotional campaigns and optimising the online presence of local businesses. One student from Valencia shared their experience with us, “For the first time, I worked with international clients and used tools we had not previously had the chance to apply at school. I learned how a real digital project works – from idea to publication.”

The school management in Spain expressed great satisfaction with the results of the mobility, highlighting that students returned with improved digital skills, stronger self-confidence and clearer professional direction.

A Veterinarian Internship for Serbian Students

We found that the experiences of Serbian students were particularly emotional. They came from an agricultural school studying as veterinary technicians and agricultural technicians. While in Malta, they had the opportunity to become familiar with modern diagnostic and animal treatment techniques not yet widely applied in Serbia. Working in veterinary clinics allowed them to develop professional precision and understand European standards of animal care and protection.

The agricultural technician students worked on farms, participating in daily tasks from crop management to operating modern machinery. Their dedication and work ethic were recognised and rewarded, with some even receiving pocket money from farm owners as a token of appreciation!

One student told us, “I woke up at 7, had breakfast, and then went to work. I behaved like an adult. It was my first time travelling outside Serbia and being away from my parents for so long. I can say this experience made me more serious. Even my parents and friends told me I had changed.”

That is the true essence of mobility. It isn’t only about professional skills, it’s about responsibility, independence, international exposure and personal maturity.
