Studying can be a very laborious task, especially if you have a mountain of work to get through and you find it hard to organise yourself. Firstly, remember that you’re not alone. Millions of students before you (and millions after you) had to knuckle down and hit the books, even on those days where you can’t face looking at a computer screen! This is your big chance to get the top grades you want, and to do so well that you’ll flourish in your future career. So, it's obviously crucial that you do put in the hours. However, we know it’s not easy especially when you’re tired, tempted by a student party or you just don’t know where to start. To help you, we’ve put together a list of the best study apps to help you ace your course and your exams. Grab your iPhone or Android device and hit the download button, this is what you’ve been waiting for!
1. 2Do
If you love a to-do list (and what student doesn’t?), then you’re going to find this one really valuable. Your 2Do will help you organise what you have to do on a day-to-day basis, manage your deadlines and help you hit your study goals (along with a whole load of other useful features). The app even notifies you to encourage you to get on with your studies and it’s one handy place to see everything you’ve done (and everything you need to do) so helping you prioritise your tasks.
2. StudyBlue
StudyBlue helps you to create your own flashcards and use them so if you’re a visual student, then customise your flashcards along with images and even audio descriptions. Use your flashcards to test yourself on what you’ve learnt, track how you’re doing and to remind yourself to sit down to study. This mobile study tool means you don’t need to lug around flashcards, you can revisit them whenever you have a few minutes, which is doubly helpful.
3. Evernote
This virtual notebook is excellent for taking notes when sitting in a long-winded lecture or for jotting down any ideas you have before you forget what you were thinking about. What’s more, Evernote allows you to save everything you want to in one place, rather than flicking through a notebook trying to find something you wrote down three months ago. Just search by text or tags to find the note you’re looking for (and you can also upload pictures of your own handwritten notes). Once you’ve got some information on Evernote, you don’t even need Wi-Fi to view or write down what you need.
4. Flora
Flora is a brilliant productivity app to keep you focussed rather than keep checking your phone for messages, social media or emails. It sets a timer for your study periods and blocks the apps that distract you. If you manage to get through your study period without looking at your phone, Flora plants a tree in your very own virtual garden so eventually you end up with a beautifully manicured outdoor space all of your own. What’s more, you can view your friends’ gardens too, so it becomes nicely competitive – those with the best gardens put in the most time without distraction.
5. Clockify
You can organise your entire schedule in advance and spend time on different tasks using this clever little app. It also shows you which topics you’re spending a lot of time on versus those that you’re not spending enough time on. Furthermore, for deadlines, Clockify is a godsend as it’s great for allocating study hours effectively while managing your time and notifying you when you need to move onto the next task, so you spread your study time out as efficiently as possible.
